    Where is it from?
    The Anthurium 'Red' is native to the tropical forests of Columbia and Ecuador. Preferring the warm and humid spots up in the trees of tropical rainforests. 

    Who is the Anthurium ‘Red’? 

    This brilliant Anthurium 'Red' is affectionately known as the Flamingo Flower amongst florists and those of its native country. It's easy to see why! In its native habitat, the Flamingo flower can be found growing in warm humid spots in trees and rocky crags.

    Anthuriums belong to the aroid family, along with many other plants including Orchids. They can be found growing on trees up in the canopy. They prefer warm humid environments, and evenly moist to slightly dry soil. They do best when they are checked once a week and given moderate care and attention.

    Care Instructions

    Light

    Prefers bright, indirect light with no direct sun. The direct sun will burn the Anthuriums’ leaves and flowers.

    Water

    Allow the top 2” of the soil to dry in between watering. Anthuriums are susceptible to root rot.

    Repotting

    This can be done every 12-18 months. Choose a pot that is 2” larger in diameter than the original pot.

    Soil

    Use a well-draining, high organic matter soil mix.

    Temperature

    Average from 65°F - 75°F

    Feeding

    Follow a monthly fertilizing schedule when the plant is actively growing. In most cases, this is in the spring and summer. Use a balanced fertilizer - this means a ratio of NPK that is all the same. Ex: 10-10-10. High phosphorus will promote blooms.

    Grooming

    Wipe the leaves every few weeks to remove debris.

    Care

    When flowers die, cut the stalks off at the base of the plant.
