Hoya 'Chelsea'
1A climbing trellis plant the Hoya Carnosa ‘Chelsea’ is ideal for beginners and makes a great addition to a bathroom or kitchen. One of the more common members of the Hoya family, the Carnosa ‘Chelsea’ has deep green almost round, almond-shaped leaves and given the right care will develop cream-colored tiny star-shaped flowers that grow in clusters. Hoya’s are also called wax plants! This is due to their semi-succulent thick leaves that appear to be made of wax.
Hoya’s grow little stick appendages from their vines called “peduncles”. They may look dry or even brown but they shouldn’t be trimmed from the plant. It's important to continue your routine when these appear as this is where the flowers will bloom from!

Allow soil to completely dry in between watering. The succulent leaves will hold water. During warmer months, keep the soil moist.
Repotting
Can be done every 12-18 months. Choose a pot that is 2” larger in diameter than the original pot. Only do so when necessary as Hoyas prefer to be rootbound.

Use a well-draining, chunky medium.

Feeding
Follow a monthly fertilizing schedule when the plant is actively growing. In most cases, this is in the spring and summer. Use a balanced fertilizer - this means a ratio of NPK that is all the same. Ex: 10-10-10.
Grooming
Place this plant under a showerhead every couple of weeks to clean off any dust or debris.
